Cross stitch embroideries are costly in terms of labour time and are traditionally hand- crafted. The monobloc on the contrary is a prime example for industrial mass production. It is fabricated in only four seconds by injection moulding. Annually over two million chairs are produced worldwide.
The concept of monostitch was to combine tradition & modernity, handcraft & industrial mass production. Traditional German Rosenheimer cross stitch patterns from the Biedermeier period were applied to a common white monobloc plastic patio chair.
